Coates Offshore and Optima Solutions Combine Forces

Optima Solutions and Coates Offshore are both individually recognised as leading suppliers of equipment and solutions to the global offshore oil and gas industry in the support of well testing and heat radiation protection from well test flaring operations.

The two firms now plan to work proactively in collaboration to provide the market with a combined solution for well testing utilities and rig cooling packages.   Kieran White and Jamie Oag

Global equipment rental specialists to the oil and gas industry, Coates Offshore, and leading market provider of rig cooling systems, Optima Solutions will be able to provide customers with an enhanced service offering for well testing through a combined package of air compression, steam generation, rig cooling equipment and skilled personnel.

“We recognise our activities as increasingly complementary; by working closely together in certain areas to offer a one stop solution we can provide superior value and quality to our customers across key regional territories,” said Coates Offshore executive director, Kieran White.

Optima and Coates Offshore entered into a “Service Quality Alliance” agreement earlier this year and together aim to support global clients with a superior quality of service on a local level.

Since the announcement of the alliance Coates Offshore and Optima have been working together to identify efficiencies in operations, personnel and resources.  The combined customer base will gain greater access to an extended range and availability of equipment, as well as a multi-skilled workforce.

Both organisations are committed to delivering on customer demand for local presence and content in emerging markets.  The initial area of development for the alliance is in Australasia where Optima and Coates Offshore plan to align their operations in Perth, Western Australia.    Optima has operated a dedicated base in Perth since 2009.  Coates Offshore currently service Asia Pacific projects from parent company, Coates Hire, facilities in Belmont, WA and from a new satellite base in Kemaman, Malaysia.

“Prospects for further developments are planned which will ensure quality support and service, on a local level, is extended throughout other key regional territories where we experience customer demand,” commented Optima managing director, Jamie Oag.

“Our customer base has driven us to ensure that we provide local service and support for our rig cooling operations.  As always Optima’s clients will drive regional service level agreements which we feel will ensure the highest level of service quality; we look forward to delivering this and reaching more clients in regional locations by working in collaboration with Coates Offshore,” added Jamie.

Optima’s patented technology and Lloyds certified nozzles protect rig structures and personnel by attenuating flare radiation by up to 95%.  Each rig and well test is unique so the RigCooling™ operation is an engineered solution, incorporating an extensive fleet of high specification pumps, competent personnel with more than 20,000 offshore service days experience over the last 11 years.

“The fact both our organisations place great importance on dedication to quality and product innovation ensures we will bring an enviable service delivery to our clients,” stated Kieran.

“Optima is the innovator of the Rig Cooling™ concept and has built pioneering status in developing patented technology; we are proud to be working with them. At Coates Offshore we continue to invest in our equipment solutions and expansion of our fleet; indeed a number of product development projects are underway for 2011/12.

We have also recently strengthened the quality of our team with the appointment of Mark Bullmore as engineering services manager and Bruce Strachan, QHSE manager.  Bruce and Mark will add significant value to our business and focus on continuing and enhancing our quality of operations.”

Both Coates Offshore and Optima are headquartered in Aberdeen (UK).  Coates Offshore, owned by Australian company, Coates Hire, has been rapidly expanding its global operations over the last eighteen months, doubling its workforce to now employ over 80 people worldwide.

Optima is a multi award winning company founded in Aberdeen in 1999 by Jamie Oag who has developed the organisation on an international scale to provide the ultimate protection from rig flaring operations.
